Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, said a newly unearthed allegation of sexual misconduct against Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh was “third-hand rumors" and “decades-old hearsay.” Grassley, a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, spoke in response to reporting in the New York Times, adapted from a forthcoming book by two of its writers, that looked more closely at how the FBI investigated allegations of sexual misconduct against Kavanaugh during his 2018 confirmation hearing, as well as new elements of those allegations.
