Rep. Adam Schiff, the ranking member on the House Intelligence Committee, said he does not believe President Donald Trump would “allow himself to be led by the nose by Rudy Giuliani or Ambassador Sondland or anybody else.” Instead, Schiff said in closing statement during an impeachment hearing on Nov. 20, Trump was the one who decided whether to have a meeting with Ukraine’s president or to deliver aid to Ukraine. Earlier in the hearing, Gordon Sondland, the U.S. ambassador to the European Union, testified that the the aid and meeting were contingent on Ukraine agreeing to investigate the 2016 elections and the Ukrainian energy company Burisma, where the son of 2020 presidential candidate Joe Biden, Hunter, sat on the board.
