Rep. Devin Nunes, the ranking member of the House Intelligence Committee, questioned Fiona Hill, the White House’s former top Russia adviser, and David Holmes, a top staffer at the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine, on Nov. 20, in a public hearing as part of the impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump. Dunes asked Hill about her interactions with Christopher Steele, the British intelligence officer who compiled a dossier that included unconfirmed allegations against President Donald Trump. Hill confirmed that she understood media reports indicate Steele compiled the document for Fusion GPS--a commercial research firm-- with funding from the Democratic National Committee. The impeachment inquiry has focused on a July 25 phone call in which Trump asked the president of Ukraine to investigate former vice president and 2020 presidential candidate Joe Biden and his son, Hunter.
