Speaking during a House Judiciary Committee ahead of a vote on the articles of impeachment, Rep. Zoe Lofgren, D-Calif., questioned why President Donald Trump waited to address questions about Hunter Biden’s connection with a Ukrainian oil company which were well known for years. Lofgren suggested that Trump did not bring up the issue with Ukraine until Hunter’s father, 2020 presidential candidate Joe Biden, started outpacing Trump in the polls. Lofgren spoke in opposition to a Republican amendment that would have changed wording in the articles of impeachment against Trump to shift focus toward Hunter and the Ukrainian oil company Burisma. The House Judiciary Committee on Dec. 12 considered revisions to the articles of impeachment and voted on whether to send those articles to the full U.S. House of Representatives. Democrats on Tuesday filed two articles of impeachment against Trump -- abuse of power and obstruction of Congress.
