Trump's first impeachment - 2020

During the six hours of debate ahead of the House impeachment vote on Dec. 18, Rep. Elaine Luria, D-Va., said she supports the impeachment of President Donald Trump, saying that she took an oath as a Naval officer to serve and protect the country. Luria said that same oath gave her "resolve to stand with the president at the White House last week, and resolve to stand up to the president in the House today." She continued: "I ask my fellow members to have the same strength and the same resolve." Trump has been charged with two articles of impeachment--abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. If passed, the process will then head for a trial in the Senate, where Republicans have a majority. Earlier in the day, the House voted to approve rules for the vote.
