Rep. Adam Schiff, the lead House manager in the Trump impeachment trial, pushed back on an assertion from Pamela Bondi, who spoke on behalf of the White House, that Democrats excluded agency counsel from the House’s witness depositions. Schiff said Democrats didn’t violate due process standards amid the impeachment inquiry. One third of the witnesses in the public hearings were chosen by Republicans, and he argued that agency counsel is not allowed to sit in on grand jury investigations. “We followed the procedures in the Nixon and Clinton procedures,” Schiff said. President Donald Trump was impeached by the House of Representatives in December on two articles — abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. The Senate will now decide whether to convict Trump of those charges and remove him from office, or acquit him.
