Rep. Zoe Lofgren, D-Calif., a House impeachment manager in President Donald Trump’s Senate impeachment trial, urged senators to call for the White House to declassify documents it has withheld throughout the inquiry. Lofgren said "that a cover-up is not a reason to classify a document," and that more documents would allow the Senate to fill gaps in their understanding. She cited several witnesses who testified, for example, why President Donald Trump ordered the hold on aid to Ukraine. House managers, who act as prosecutors in the trial, began presenting arguments on Jan. 22. The White House will give its defense after the House managers have been allowed 24 hours over the course of three days to present their case. The House of Representatives impeached the president in December on two articles--abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. The trial will determine whether Trump is convicted of those charges and removed from office, or acquitted.
