1:27Now PlayingVice President Kamala Harris tried to distinguish herself from her Republican opponent at Tuesday's presidential debate, saying she offers a "new generation of leadership," and that she wanted to turn the page on "a conversation that is constantly about belittling and name calling."
Instead, Harris said she had several policy plans, on topics ranging from tax deductions for startups, to financial assistance for house down payments, and that she wanted to focus on those plans in the Sept. 10 debate.
"Let's talk about our plans and and let's compare the plans," she urged.
Harris and former President Donald Trump met for their first and possibly only debate on Sept. 10, hosted by ABC in Philadelphia. Harris replaced President Joe Biden as the Democratic presidential nominee this summer after Biden gave a troubling debate performance in June, increasing calls for him to drop out of the race.
According to the latest PBS News/NPR/Marist poll, more than two-thirds of Americans say they will watch all or most of the debate. While many voters have already made up their minds, 14 percent of Americans say the debate will have a great impact on which candidate they choose.
