2:17Now PlayingFormer Minnesota Sen. Norm Coleman appeared as a witness at the confirmation hearing for defense secretary nominee Pete Hegseth Tuesday. He said Hegseth's ability to be strong, focused, intelligent, incisive and a great listener made him a good fit for the job.
"Pete was a brave soldier, has been an able communicator, and I believe is about to begin a great second act as our secretary of defense. He has struggled and overcome great personal challenges. Please don't give in to the cynical notion that people can't change," Coleman said.
Hegseth is a military veteran and conservative media personality. President-elect Donald Trump’s pick for defense secretary has faced allegations of sexual misconduct and excessive drinking, and been criticized as a nominee for his controversial views on diversity and religion in the military.
