1:11Now PlayingVice President JD Vance described Donald Trump’s inaugural address as a "hell of a speech" as he introduced the president for an impromptu appearance in Emancipation Hall.
“Was that a hell of a speech or what?” Vance said.
“That was a good way to start it off, you know, I didn't know exactly what the president would put in that speech and I hoped to myself hope to myself that he wasn't gonna hold back and Sir, you didn't hold back. That was a hell of a way to start the next four years.”
The inauguration ceremony, including the swearings-in, took place indoors this year, a last-minute change to the pomp and circumstance due to extreme cold forecasted for the nation’s capital.
When Trump returns to the White House on Monday, he’s expected to act quickly on his campaign promises and roll back his predecessor’s policies. As his second term begins, his party controls both chambers of Congress and conservative justices have a majority on the Supreme Court. Trump is only the second president to return to office in non-consecutive terms, the only president convicted of a felony and the oldest person to win election to the White House.
