WATCH: Trump says he will sign executive orders on border security for ‘common sense’

In his inaugural address Monday, President Donald Trump said he will sign his first executive orders as the 47th leader of the United States to restore America and spur “common sense.”

“I will sign a series of historic executive orders,” he said. “With these actions we will begin the complete restoration of America and the revolution of common sense.”

Among the planned executive orders, many of which focused on U.S. immigration policy, Trump said he would declare a national emergency at the southern border, reinstate his "Remain in Mexico" policy, and designate Mexican cartels as foreign terrorist organizations.

The inauguration ceremony, including the swearings-in, is taking place indoors this year, a last-minute change to the pomp and circumstance due to extreme cold forecasted for the nation’s capital.

When Trump returns to the White House on Monday, he’s expected to act quickly on his campaign promises and roll back his predecessor’s policies. As his second term begins, his party controls both chambers of Congress and conservative justices have a majority on the Supreme Court. Trump is only the second president to return to office in non-consecutive terms, the only president convicted of a felony and the oldest person to win election to the White House.
