as posted by the channelPresident Donald Trump cited his administration’s ouster of Venezuela’s Nicolas Maduro in January and the subsequent U.S. takeover over the country’s oil sector as a example of why he’d like to “take” Iran’s oil in the widening war in the Middle East.
“We are a partner with Venezuela, and we've taken hundreds of millions of barrels,” the president said, nodding to the proverb, "To the victor go the spoils.” “We haven't had that in this country probably in 100 years,” he added, saying the U.S. didn’t profit after helping rebuild European countries like Germany after the Second World War.
Trump has given Iran until 8 p.m. Eastern on Tuesday to make a deal to end the conflict, as the U.S. and Israel escalate their threats and attacks on the country to open up the Strait of Hormuz, a key maritime route for the world’s oil and gas supply.
