Kalki Yalamanchili's concerning stories about DA Deborah Gonzalez's office

Kalki Yalamanchili, candidate for District Attorney in Georgia's Western Circuit, told some stories about DA Deborah Gonzalez's office at a recent candidate forum hosted by the Athens Anti-Discrimination Movement that, if true, don't paint a pretty picture of what's happening there.

DA candidate Kalki Yalamanchili had some damning stories about DA Deborah Gonzalez's office at the AADM candidate forum. The other day it was brought to my attentionthat there was a case in which charges were eventually dismissed but not until a man had spent 13 months in jail because he was homeless and couldn't make a $2,000 bond and the District Attorney's office hadn't even indicted his case. So that's completely unacceptable. That's a systems failure and that's a miscarriage of justice. So we had a situation where a man who had manufactured evidence to obtain a wrongful conviction in a different state was hired by this office and then withheld evidence illegally from the defendant again and was not terminated immediately, stayed on staff for several months collecting tens of thousands of dollars. That's just a culture killer. And if you're building an office, you need to build a culture that says 'do the right thing, the right way, regardless of whether anyone is watching.' Okay, I gotta stop talking. Thank you, Mr. Yalamanchili.
