5:25Now PlayingIn the late 1960s, American psychologist Dr Arthur Janov developed a 'primal therapy' designed to alleviate issues caused by childhood trauma by taking patients back to the very moment of their birth. It was a process undertaken by John Lennon, providing much of the inspiration behind the album John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band, released in December 1970.
David Dimbleby introduces a report on the methods of Dr Janov, in which Janov expounds on the thinking behind his approach and the results of Lennon's experience with him - "the definitive work on love".
