5:48Now PlayingElizabeth Twistington Higgins was a celebrated ballet dancer, until she was struck by polio at the age of 30. She was paralysed below the neck, needing an iron lung and a wheelchair for the rest of her life.
But Elizabeth didn't let those circumstances define her. She became a ballet teacher and a noted painter, clasping her brush in her mouth. She had appliances and household devices adapted to work when she blew into a tube attached to relays.
