Your own, personal television channel - it may sound like the stuff of science fiction, but the ability to view television programmes on demand is already here. A new system called ADSL (asymmetric digital subscriber line) allows video, fast internet and interactive services to be sent down ordinary telephone lines. Peter Snow explains how the system works, while the Balcombe family try it out ahead of its full UK launch later in the year.
