5:33Now PlayingFormer President Barack Obama remembered John Lewis and made an appeal to young voters during his Democratic National Convention speech.
“To the young people who led us this summer, telling us we need to be better, in so many ways you are this country’s dreams fulfilled,” said Obama. "You can give our democracy new meaning. You can take it to a better place. You’re the missing ingredient, the ones who will decide whether or not America becomes the country that fully lives up to its creed."
"This administration has shown that it will tear our democracy down," Obama continued, saying that Trump hasn't been taking his job as president seriously.
Obama is one of the speakers during the third night of Joe Biden’s virtual nominating convention on Wednesday, speaking just before California Senator Kamala Harris, who will accept the nomination as Biden’s running mate.
The former president said in the remarks that when he began his search for vice president, he didn’t know he’d “end up finding a brother.” He said while he knows most voters have already made up their minds, Biden “made me a better president” and is the best choice to lead the country because “he’s got the character and the experience to make us a better country.”
