Republican Sen. Mitt Romney spoke on the Senate floor Monday morning saying that Barrett would "be critical to the preservation of the public's perception of the legitimacy of the Court."
With no real power to stop the vote, Democrats argue the winner of the Nov. 3 election should choose the nominee to replace the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
