1:04Now PlayingPolice in Tbilisi arrested members of radical groups on Tuesday who tried to break their lines and disrupt an LGBTQ rally in the Georgian capital.
The pro-LGBTQ demonstration in front of Parliament was called after violence prevented a Pride march being held in the city a day earlier.
Activists gathered in front of the legislature in a show of solidarity.
Organizers of Monday's Tbilisi March For Dignity cancelled the event, saying authorities had not provided adequate security guarantees.
Opponents of the march blocked off the capital’s main avenue, denounced journalists covering the protest as pro-LGBTQ propagandists and threw sticks and bottles at the media workers. About 20 journalists were injured.
Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili had himself had spoken out against the Pride march, saying it could sow division in the country.
