The explosions, believed to have been caused by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), occurred around the busy Jos Main Market, between railway terminus and the temporary site of the Jos University Teaching Hospital.
The Commissioner of Police in Plateau State, Chris Olakpe, confirmed the casualty figure on Tuesday.
He said that 46 people were killed in the twin explosions with unidentified number of persons injured.
The Senate on Tuesday approved the extension of emergency rule in Adamawa, Borno and Yobe states for another six months.
The northern lawmakers who had last week vehemently opposed the extension of the emergency rule made a U-turn on Tuesday and supported the extension of the State of Emergency.
