YouTube Description
as posted by the channelAustralia is the country gun-control activists love to hold up as the example.
Every time something happens in America, they say the same thing:
“Why can’t we just be like Australia?”
So let’s talk about what being like Australia actually means.
According to a new piece in Spectator Australia by Senator Malcolm Roberts and Dr. John Lott, Australia’s rape and sexual assault rate is roughly three times higher than the United States. Its assault rate is about twice as high. Its burglary rate is about two and a half times higher.
That’s the gun-control “success story” they keep trying to sell you.
Now yes — Australia’s murder rate is lower than ours. That part is true.
But that’s also the trick.
Homicide is a tiny fraction of violent crime, and they use that one number to hide the everyday crimes people are far more likely to face: rape, assault, burglary, home invasion, and robbery.
Then you add the part they really don’t want to talk about.
In most of Australia, you can’t carry a gun for self-defense. You can’t carry pepper spray. You can’t carry mace. You can’t even carry a knife for self-defense.
So when a vulnerable person is attacked, the official answer is basically:
Be a good victim and hope the criminal changes his mind.
That’s not safety.
That’s dependency.
And when people say America should copy Australia, what they’re really asking for is the same path Australia took:
Mass shooting. Background checks. Registry. Ban. Confiscation.
Every step sold as “reasonable.”
Every step setting up the next one.
So next time somebody says, “Why can’t we just be like Australia?” send them the numbers.
Because Australia is not the safe utopia they sold you.
