She is facing eight counts of felony child neglect for not preventing a first-grade student from shooting a teacher, Abby Zwerner, inside a classroom. The state argued the shooting could have been prevented had the defendant taken the warnings more seriously. Meanwhile, the defense stated that Dr. Parker did not have direct interaction with the child, and any of the other teachers who did could have stepped in and separated him from the other students if they knew he had a gun.
