Prosecutors allege Benning’s boyfriend, Blaise Taylor, secretly poisoned his pregnant girlfriend, Jade Benning, at her apartment in February 2023, causing the deaths of both Benning and her five-month-old fetus. Dr. Carney shared the toxicology results from Benning’s blood when she arrived at the hospital, and that they found an unusually high amount of cocaine in her blood. She also testified that in most of these cases, the cocaine is orally ingested and believes that is what happened in this case.
