Tom DeWolf is the descendent of one of the largest slave trading families in U.S. history and Sharon Morgan, his co-author, is a descendent of slaves from South Side Chicago. Over a three year period, they traveled to visit each other's families, went to ancestral towns and historic sites all the while engaging in conversation on how race has impacted their lives. In "Gather at the Table," DeWolf recounts his experience in getting to know Sharon and his view on discussing the issue of race in the U.S. today.
