Washington Today (5-18-23): Speaker McCarthy wants debt ceiling increase deal vote next week

With two weeks to go until a possible U.S. default on its national debt, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy says about talks between his office and the White House on raising the debt ceiling, “I think we have a structure now and everybody’s working hard." And he says he would like the House to vote on a bill next week.
