In these portions of the conversation with the Wall Street Journal's Greg Ip, Mr. Warsh, a former member of the Federal Reserve, said the Fed should remain independent from presidential interference, but said it shouldn't insulate the Fed from presidential criticism. He also talked about what he called "mission creep" of the Fed, and his own views on the Trump administration's economic and trade policies. This conversation was about half a year before Mr. Warsh's nomination to be Fed chair.
