4:36Now PlayingDoris Kearns Goodwin: "Lincoln had the normal human emotions we all do, of envy or anger or jealousy, but he knew that they poison you somehow, so he was able to let those things go. If somebody had hurt him in the past and he wanted to be friends with him in the future, he wasn't going to go back to that. So every time you feel like one of those emotions is welling up, I just think Abe would tell me, don't do this. And I told the same thing to Spielberg when he was going to make the movie about Lincoln. I told the same thing to Daniel Day-Lewis when he was going to be playing Lincoln, and they both said they felt somewhat that they were a better person at the end for having done it."
