"On behalf of all Americans, thank you for getting rid of that ridiculous red card," the senator said Monday in the Oval Office. "It was spectacular. There was a reason the FIFA trophy sat here for as long as it did."
FIFA lifted the suspension after the president spoke with the organization's president, Gianni Infantino, igniting a firestorm in the soccer world — particularly in Belgium, which is set to face the U.S. in the round of 16 on Monday night.
