"So, we're stuck," Ms. Farkas said. "Essentially, I think the best option is to try to wait out the Iranians."
Mr. Allen called for the U.S. to continue its blockade, saying, "We need to continue to degrade the parts of the military that Iran can use to police the straits from their side of things."
Michael Allen served as majority staff director for the House Intelligence Committee and as senior director for the National Security Council during the George W. Bush administration. Evelyn Farkas served as deputy assistant Defense secretary during the Obama administration.
