2:04Now PlayingU.S. Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed (D-MI) attacked his Republican opponent, former Rep. Mike Rogers (R-MI), over his accumulation of wealth, calling him "among the most corrupt candidates for U.S. Senate in recent memory."
"This is a guy who took more than $5 million from big corporations to run his campaigns while he was in Congress for 14 years," he said at a press conference in Detroit on Wednesday. "He was actively taking money while voting to do the bidding of those exact corporations."
Mr. El-Sayed said the "real payoff" came after Mr. Rogers left Congress, accusing him of "trading on the relationships" he built during his time in the House.
"And he took that money and he moved to Florida, bought a McMansion. And one yacht wasn't enough for the man, he had to buy two of them," he said.
