2:10Now PlayingFormer Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said she opposes the actions of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government but supports Israel on the whole.
"I think we have to make a distinction, which is hard to draw because the world today, the polarized world we're in, you know, doesn't favor complexity or nuance, it favors binary choices," she said Monday night at an event hosted by the Hamptons Institute in New York.
"We are against a lot of the decisions that the Netanyahu government is making and we are for Israel. And I'm against a lot of the decisions that, you know, the Trump administration makes and I am for America."
She warned people not to get caught in a "false choice" and to draw distinctions between governments and countries, while taking a shot at Mr. Netanyahu's leadership.
"There should be no doubt in anyone's mind how seriously Netanyahu has damaged, first and foremost, Israel," she said. "And second, the perception that people not just in the United States, but around the world, have of Israel, and that has to be repaired."
