"The federal government has never put the uniformed military at our polls," Sen. Slotkin said. "Will you stand up for the Constitution and say no, or will you salute and do his bidding?"
The Defense secretary brushed aside the question as a "gotcha hypothetical," but the Michigan Democrat pressed further.
"What are you going to do?" Sen. Slotkin asked. "It's not a hypothetical."
