1:46Now PlayingPresident Trump traveled in the presidential motorcade Thursday evening to the reflecting pool between the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial, which is currently under renovation at his request.
The president then took questions from reporters, one of whom asked him why he was focused on aesthetic renovations to the reflecting pool amid a war with Iran and affordability issues nationwide.
“I want to keep our country beautiful and safe,” President Trump said. “Our country’s about beauty, cleanliness, safety, great people.”
He lashed out at the reporter: “It’s such a stupid question you asked,” the president said. “You can understand dirt, maybe, better than I can, but I don’t allow it.”
