1:05Now PlayingFormer CNN anchor and independent journalist Don Lemon on Wednesday said he was open to running for office, including the presidency.
"Why not?" Mr. Lemon told journalist Kara Swisher at the Sir Harry Evans Investigative Journalism Summit in London on Wednesday.
"I'm a man of a certain age, I've been around long enough, I've worked hard," he continued. "I'm a completely self-made person."
Mr. Lemon was fired from CNN in 2023 and later launched his own independent newscast, "The Don Lemon Show."
He was arrested while reporting on an anti-ICE protest at a church in St. Paul, Minnesota, in January. He pleaded not guilty to charges of interfering with religious worship, and press freedom groups have rallied to his side, arguing the case seeks to criminalize journalism despite First Amendment protections.
