The challenge increases because many potential targets—nuclear facilities, regime infrastructure, and IRGC military sites—are deep inside Iranian territory. That means aircraft would likely need to penetrate Iranian airspace for hundreds of nautical miles, greatly increasing exposure to layered air defenses.
