Donna Adelson, 75, was convicted on September 4, 2025, of first-degree murder, conspiracy, and solicitation in the contract killing of her former son-in-law, Dan Markel. Prosecutors argued she masterminded the plot to have Markel killed during a bitter custody dispute, wanting to enable her daughter Wendi Adelson and two grandsons to relocate from Tallahassee to South Florida.
