At seventeen years old, a young man from Beverly Hills was given a choice by his mother. Go to college or get a minimum wage job. He refused both. She packed his bags and put them in the corner of the room.

He walked out at one in the morning with nowhere to go.

What followed was months of genuine survival in Los Angeles. Sleeping on park benches and concrete floors in sweltering heat. Eating the cheapest cut of beef available once a day, sometimes less. Relying entirely on strangers, a football coach who risked his career, a trainer who offered his floor, a woman who opened her home and fell in love with someone who had nothing to offer back. A trip to Las Vegas where the last of his money was lost in a single session at the sportsbook. And then, out of nowhere, a fifty-thousand-dollar commission that arrived ten days later and put him back in the game.

Through all of it, he never stopped training. Never let himself fall apart. Kept his shoes clean and his body in shape because he understood that the moment he let one wheel fall off, all of them would follow.
