In this clip, Rickey Smiley discussed the title of his book Stand By Your Truth: And Then Run for Your Life. He said that standing by your truth is dangerous and could result in needing to run whether literally or figuratively. Rickey Smiley also weighed in on fellow comedian Gary Owen's comment stating that comics don't mean their public apologies. Rickey agreed and said criticized the sensitivity of society today with the level of censorship we interface with.
Rickey Smiley said that you could lose your career saying the wrong thing about the LGBT community. But noted that his intentions and actions show he's about inclusivity, personally and professionally so he's not concerned with any detractors.
