In this clip, Hector Berrellez expressed concern about the rising power of Mexican drug cartels. According to Berrellez, the cartels have gained in strength due to their alleged ties with the Chinese Communist Party, which is said to be providing them with arms and the ingredients to produce the deadly drug, fentanyl. He maintained that these formidable factions are now better armed than groups like the Taliban and well beyond the ability of the Mexican army to control. Berrellez voiced his concern at the increase in human trafficking, particularly the disappearance of thousands of children crossing into the U.S. Despite disapproval for his rhetoric, Berrellez acknowledged that former president Donald Trump understood the severity of the cartel situation and did propose reasonable measures to counter it.
