The game-changer came when Sha Money XL brought the record to Envy. Despite warnings about the chaos the song would ignite, Envy sat on the record for a few days before dropping it on a mixtape. His mixtape quickly sold out across New York, sparking controversy but also immense demand. At the time, Envy was still a college student and had no major industry connections, which allowed him to play the record without concern for the industry’s politics.
