Former Army sniper Nicholas Irving discussed the rifle allegedly used by Tyler Robinson to assassinate Charlie Kirk. According to Irving, Robinson reportedly employed a .30-06 bolt-action Mauser—a classic, powerful hunting rifle famously used by legendary snipers, including those in Vietnam. Irving noted the rifle “definitely packs a punch” and remains effective despite its age. The interview touched on tactical methods reminiscent of the infamous DC snipers, who fired through small holes in vehicle trunks to avoid detection. Irving stressed that such operations require skill but ultimately hinge on avoiding mistakes like leaving evidence or seeking notoriety, which led to the DC snipers’ capture. Irving also remarked on the practice of writing on ammunition, describing it as a curious habit adopted by some shooters.
