- Lead and ADHD:
Fifty years ago, before lead was removed from gasoline, the US median lead blood level in children was above 15 ug/dl. An association exists between blood lead levels and later development of ADHD, for levels, and levels as low as 3.5 ug/dl are not considered safe. We've prevented millions of cases of ADHD with this intervention, yet in the US right now, the president has proposed burning more coal (a significant source of environmental lead) and giving utilities an exemption from burning it cleanly.
- Lying and ADHD:
It's often stated that those with ADHD are more prone to lying. Others claim that those with ADHD are more honest than the average person. But there are different kinds of falsehoods - simple untruths, spur of the moment attempts to avoid responsibility (reflexive lies) and premeditated attempts to deceive (reflective lies). It is possible, but unproven, that ADHD increases the likelihood of uttering falsehoods i the first two categories, and decreases the third type.
