Sharing the information that one has ADHD can be a big step for many. Since ADHD presents in different ways, is just one aspect of who anyone is, and may be misunderstood by some audiences, there's no single way to come out, and no rigid rules about how to do it. But some guidelines can be helpful: chose a time to come out, rather than waiting for a crisis; keep things simple; explain how having neurodivergent executive functions has shaped some of your behaviors; be prepared with written or video references so that your audience can learn more at their own pace; remember that this is a process, not a one-and-done; and seek support from the ADHD community or professionals if you feel overwhelmed.
