“The difference is ballistic missiles,” Professor of World Studies at the University of Tehran, Dr. Foad Izadi, told Jeremy Scahill in an interview this morning.
“Because they’re defenseless, there is no cost in killing women and children in Gaza, that continues. Attacking Iran has cost,” he added.
Dr. Izadi also dismissed Netanyahu’s claim that Israel agreed to a truce because it had achieved its objectives. He points to major Israeli miscalculations—overreliance on U.S. air defenses, failure to anticipate how quickly Iran’s military would recover, and a regime change strategy that backfired by uniting the Iranian public—as reasons why Israeli leaders feared the consequences of continued escalation.
