Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA) backed DNC Chair Ken Martin’s push to remove major donor, dark money, and super PAC influence from Democratic primaries ahead of 2028.
Speaking to Drop Site’s Julian Andreone, Khanna praised Martin for showing “enormous courage,” saying he is focused on the party’s grassroots instead of wealthy donors. He argued that any Democrat seeking to lead the party should support banning super PAC money in presidential, Senate, and House primaries.
Khanna, who says he has never taken corporate PAC or lobbyist money, added that Democrats need to return to spending time with grassroots rather than big donors. Martin’s proposal has drawn backlash from some party insiders as debates over money and influence intensify ahead of the 2028 race.
