While Iranian officials say they remain fully engaged in diplomacy, they are also preparing for a possible resumption of the war. Scahill notes Iranian officials point to a pattern in the past year in which earlier rounds of negotiations were followed by major U.S.-Israeli bombing campaigns against Iran, fueling deep skepticism inside Tehran over Washington’s intentions.
