11:39Now PlayingRussia has warned against the delivery of F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine – saying the move increases the risk that NATO will be pulled into the conflict. That is one possible consequence, but apparently the possible advantages outweigh any risks.
Last week several Western European countries signaled that they are ready to send Ukraine F-16 fighter jets. And over the weekend US President Biden said yes to US forces training Ukrainian pilots to fly those planes. For months Ukraine's President Zelenskyy has lobbied leaders and courted capitals for more weapons, especially those fighter jets. Finally, it's beginning to pay off.
To discuss the F-16 factor in this war we are joined by John Teichert. He is a retired Brigadiere General and command pilot in the US Air Force. He also served as Assistant Deputy Undersecretary of the Air Force in charge of international affairs. He joins us from Washington DC.
