The UN's World Health Organization expressed alarm at the situation in Al-Shifa hospital, which medical staff say has run out of water, food, and electricity. Israel said it had clashed with Hamas nearby but not fired on the hospital.
Meanwhile, Israeli media are reporting progress in negotiations to free hostages held by Hamas in Gaza.
