Subrata Roy dies at 75: Bollywood celebs Anupam Kher, Riteish Deshmukh and others mourn his demise

Founder of Sahara Group, Subrata Roy recently passed away at the age of 75 in a Mumbai-hospital after a prolonged illness. Soon after his unfortunate demise, some Bollywood celebs reacted to the news and penned their condolence messages on social media. Well-known actor Anupam Kher took to X, previously known as Twitter, to share an image of Subrata and wrote ‘Saddened to know about the demise of Sahara Shri Subrata Roy Ji! Met him many times on different occasions! He was always ready to help, kind and larger than life. May god rest his soul in peace! Om Shanti!’ Actress Manisha Koirala also penned a heartfelt message for the late visionary that read, ‘The man who never given up during his struggle life. #RIP DEAR SIR’. Riteish Deshmukh also mourned his death by writing, ‘Saharashri #SubrataRoy ji was a kind hearted Man. Always greeted with a big smile and a warm hug. Deeply saddened to learn of his untimely demise. A true visionary. My deepest condolences to Seemanto, Sushanto, the entire Sahara family and loved ones. May his soul rest in peace.’ Even former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina grieved the passing away of Roy as he wrote, ‘great motivator, speaker and sports lover is no more . #RIP’. Subrata Roy’s journey as an entrepreneur started from Gorakhpur where he took over a small chit fund company in 1976 and turned it around within two years to raise Sahara India Pariwar, which became one of India’s biggest conglomerates.
