McGahn Testimony Confirms That Trump Obstructed Justice

The House was finally able to get testimony from former White House Counsel Don McGahn, and the transcript that was released appears to show that Trump absolutely attempted to obstruct justice. This week, the transcript from the testimony of former white house lawyer, Don McGahn was released, uh, as we all know, he recently had that closed door hearing with the house judiciary committee. Matt gates went on TV and said, Hey, that hearing didn't go the way Democrats thought it would go. And then the transcript came out and it showed that yeah, the interview went exactly as Democrats thought it would go because McGahn on multiple instances, according to the transcript did in fact confirm that Donald Trump attempted to obstruct justice. He confirmed the Donald Trump wanted him to fire special prosecutor, a special prosecutor, excuse me, Robert Mueller. So we now know that's a thing McGahn refused to comply with those orders. And then at another point, even after McGahn had told prosecutors about that conversation and his refusal, Trump ordered McGahn to issue a statement, knowing that it was illegal to do so saying that Trump never asked him to fire Robert Mueller.

So right there is just two instances off the top where McGann confirmed Donald Trump's obstruction of justice. Now this isn't new. That's why I said confirmed not revealed. We knew this stuff. This stuff was in the Mueller report. It was, you know, two of the roughly 10 different instances of obstruction of justice that, that report laid out. Even though attorney general, bill BARR came out and said, Nope, nothing to see here. Folks move along. My client is totally innocent, but that's not the case. Uh, democratic representative Ted lieu is pointed out that, Hey, the statute of limitations hasn't passed on this yet, like we could literally still prosecute this guy for obstruction of justice. And some prosecutors actually say that might be able to happen in different, um, jurisdictions, meaning it doesn't have to be the DOJ legal experts say to prosecute the former president for these alleged crimes question is, will it happen?

McGann's testimony is powerful and contrary. Yes. To what Matt gates says. It does confirm what we all knew. It confirms what we all needed to hear. And that is why McGahn fought for years. And why Trump fought for years from having McGann go and testifying in front of Congress. They knew it would be bad, but honestly, the part where McGahn says Trump told me to issue this statement. He knew it was illegal. He knew it could get me in legal, hot water. He didn't care. He wanted the statement out there that tells you everything. He was warned. Okay. He was warned that this is illegal to do it. And not only for you, but you could get me in trouble, but Trump didn't care.

And that should have been the first red flag from McGahn. He should have immediately when he got that subpoena, what two years ago said, you know what? Yeah, I'm going to testify. I have no reason to protect this guy because he got me in legal, hot water. And I want to go ahead and clear the air. And he tried to throw me under the bus. So I'm going to throw him under the bus, but apparently every now and then there is a little bit of honor among thieves, I guess, but now it's all out in the open and hopefully whatever needs to happen in terms of prosecution, if it doesn't come from the DOJ, which we know it won't, hopefully it is able to happen in a different jurisdiction. And hopefully Donald Trump finally gets held accountable for the lies he told to those investigators who were just trying to make sure that he wasn't getting foreign aid for his election.
